Hi Don Wee, we can begin by drawing a bar to represent any one of the colors, say black. Next, draw another bar for a colour with respect to black, in this blue with 10 less. Lastly, we can draw for the red which is 8 less than blue... When the three bars have been drawn and the quantities 10, 8, and the total have been indicated on the model, we can either add or takeaway some quantities in order to create equal units. It is useful to mark on the bars with dotted lines which part is what quantity.

It's useful to ask children to suggest if they have an opinion if the would start with blue, black or red. But seriously, what's went with Lynn? Why so many markers? Is she suffering from some obsessive behaviours? Is she sniffing them? I am disappointed to that P3 kids have to deal with such complex social issues.

One unit is A. Black=A+18. Blue=A+8. Red=A. Total=86. 86-10+8+8=60. 60 divide by 3=20. 20+8=28. Answer:28. Jedi

By removing 10 black markers and adding 8 red markers, there would be equal numbers of markers for the three colours. (86 - 10 + 8) ÷ 3 = 84 ÷ 3 = 28

Lynn might just be doing stock taking in her stationery shop or in a tuition centre. P3 kids buying markers at the Popular bookstore will not think that the employees working there are acetone junkies! :) lol
