How do I engage a tutor?

Simply download our app and sign up for a free account and tap on 'Get a tutor'. Next, tap on the available tutors to view their calendar. You will then be able to select the available lesson slots that fit your schedule. Book the tutor for the session that suits your schedule. Our tutors will receive a notification of your booking and respond to you as soon as they can.

Who are the tutors?

Tutors on iMath have to pass our screening process before they are allowed to be a tutor on iMath. They have to be experienced in the Singapore school syllabus with professional backgrounds ranging from MOE certified educators, former-teachers and graduates. You are welcome to read students’ feedback to help decide on the right tutor for your specific learning needs.

Are the lessons recorded?

Yes, your lessons are recorded and will be available for review for a period of up to 12 months after the lesson is completed.

How long is each tutoring session?

Each session is scheduled for 30 minutes. You can book multiple sessions depending on your tutoring needs. You will need to check your tutor's availability via our online calender system.

What if I need extra tutoring time?

The system will cut the session off at 30 mins. If you require additional time, please check your tutor's schedule to book an additional slot.

Communicating with my tutor.

Please send the tutor a message after booking him/ her. Do send your tutor a picture of the question/questions that you would like to consult him/ her on.

How am I charged for tutoring sessions?

Tutors will publish their rates on their profile. When the tutor accepts your session, the fee to be charged will be debited from your credit card (your iMath wallet will be the primary payment method if you have remaining credits).

What are the fees for using iMath?

Good news! There is no additional charge beyond the tutor’s published rate.

How do I change or cancel a confirmed session?

We do not recommend changing or cancelling confirmed lessons unless it is absolutely necessary. In the event that you need to change or cancel a session, go to your User account, click on “My bookings” and go to 'Upcoming' bookings tab and cancel the session.

Cancellation with at least 12 hours notice
You can cancel the lesson with at least 12 hours’ notice at no charge. The amount you paid for the cancelled session will be held in your iMath wallet for you to use on future bookings.

Cancellation with less than 12 hours notice
If the rescheduling/cancellation request is less than 12 hours before the scheduled lesson, 50% of the tutor fee will be charged. The remaining 50% will be held in your iMath wallet for your to use on future bookings.

Cancellation with less than 30 minutes notice
If the cancellation is done within 30 minutes of the lesson's start time, 100% of the fees will be chargable and be paid to the tutor.

What happens when a tutor cancels a session?

If a tutor cancels a scheduled session with you, iMath will issue a 100% refund to you. This amount will be held in your iMath wallet for be used for future bookings.

Do I get a refund due to technical problems?

iMath will offer you a refund if the technical error is due to our programme failure. We will review each request on a case by case basis. We apologise that we will not be able to award a refund should the error be due to your device or network issues of your service provider.

Do I qualify to be a tutor on iMath?

Math is always on the lookout for tutors who care about helping students with Math. All tutors are required to complete their online profile with accurate information and provide the following documentations:
- Highest education qualification
- 3 minute teaching video

Our team at iMath will review your application and respond through an email notification within 5 working days.

How can I list my services?

You are strongly encouraged to provide an introduction of your experience and expertise. We also welcome testimonials from your students. You can list your available time slots on your iMath online calendar so that students can makes a booking with you. As soon as there is a booking, we will send you an in-app notification for your confirmation.

When can I schedule sessions?

iMath is built to be flexible to suit your schedule. Use iMath to schedule lessons for ad hoc bookings to fill up your quiet times of the day. You can even list sessions in the morning as parents may want to book sessions with you to learn how to teach their child at home on their own.

Do I need to have materials of my own?

When you confirm a booking session, you will be prompted to send your student a message. Use this opportunity to ask for their questions to be sent to you. Our in-app messaging allows for pictures to be sent over.
However, do have some pictures of questions available in case they want more practice questions from you.

How should I charge?

As a tutor on iMath, you determine your own rates. You can also change your own rates via your tutor dashboard on www.imath.sg . As a guide, tutors typically charge less on iMath as they do not need to travel and/or they use iMath to fill up their quiet times of the day to earn some extra.

How do I cancel a scheduled lesson?

We do not recommend cancellation of confirmed sessions unless it is absolutely necessary. In the event that you need to change or cancel a session, go to your User account, click on “My bookings” and go to Upcoming bookings tab and cancel the session. We recommend at least 12 hours advanced notice to the student. Tutor fees will be fully refunded to the parents/ student. iMath reserves the right to terminate a tutor for excessive cancellations.

How do I get paid?

We make collecting payments much easier for you through our online payment system. iMath will pay you based on the rates which the student booked you for less admin fee that iMath charges. Payments will be made directly into your bank account on 1st and 16th of each month. Should the payment date fall on a public holiday or weekend, payments will be deposited on the next working day.

Why is my banking information required?

Payments will be transferred to your bank account for the tutoring sessions you have completed.
Once your registration is confirmed, we will be requesting for your bank details. Only Singapore registered bank accounts are allowed at this moment. We will handle your personal information with upmost confidentiality and will only use it for relevant processing

Do I have to pay a commission for using your platform?

We charge a nominal service fee of 15% of your published rates. The following is an example of how the charges will look like:
Listed price for tutoring sessions : $50
Service fee : $7.50
Amount payable to tutor : $42.50
