Their speed in last 15min is 240/15 = 16m/min This is a reduced by 25% speed so it is at 75%. 75% is also 3/4 so 3/4 speed is 16m/min then full speed is 20m/min. But this 20m/min is 1/6 of Roy skate speed so just multiply by 6 to get Roy skate speed

Roy's speed in walking 240m in the last 15 min was 960m/h. This speed was 75% of the initial walking speed and the initial walking speed was only a sixth of Roy's skating speed. So the working to part (a).... (a) 240m in 15 min = 960m/h 960m/h × 4/3 × 6 = 7680 m/h (ans) (b) Ratio of Alan's cycling time to Roy's skating time = 15 min : 25 min = 3 : 5 Hence the ratio of Alan's speed to Roy's speed must be 5 : 3 Alan's average speed was thus 7680 m/h × 5/3 = 12,800 m/h ( ans)

Xavier, how u get 240m in 15 min = 960m/h

Good morning Micheal. You see, in every one hour, there are four periods of 15 minutes. If 240 m were covered in 15 min, 240 m times 4 would be covered in an hour.

What about the reduce speed of 25% for the last 15 mins and the being 45 mins is the same speed?

Xavier Sng

The reduced speed in the last 15 min was 960m/h. The higher speed in the prior 45 min was 960 m/h × 4/3 = 1280 m/h.

Xavier Sng

Roy's skating speed was thus 1280 m/h × 6 = 7680 m/h

All her money is 100% She spent 25% on food, this means she has 75% left. You are given the clue that she has $180 left. So 75% of her money is $180. Then you can work out what she have at first which is 100%

$240

3/4 is $180....so devide 180/3 gives $60. So 4/4//is 4 x $60. gives $240.

Consider a set of 5 packets, 3 sold at $16 and 2 at $8. One set cost =$16 × 3 + $8 × 2 =$64 And one set contained =5×30 =150 2304 ÷ 64 × 150 = 5400 lollipops sold
