Use the protractor to draw the angles at A and B as in the picture. Where the two lines meet is C. Use the ruler to measure AC. Before you measure, check the measure of <C using the protractor. It should be 75. AC should be about 2.6 or 2.7 cm.

another way, using sin theorem a/sin A = b/sin B = c/sin C

True Varance, but I thought if this was for a primary student, they would not have studied Trigonometry yet. The question did say to measure, not calculate. You're welcome Bonny!

In recent years there will be at least one construction question in PSLE....do make sure your child is familiar with this.

(a)
800 × 30% + 400 × 60%
= 480 chickens
(b) after transfer,
1/4 of A + 3/4 of B = 480 chickens
3/4 of A + 9/4 of B = 1440
3/4 of A + 1/4 of B
= 800+400-480
= 720
9/4 of B - 1/4 of B
= 1440 - 720
8/4 of B = double amount of B
= 720
Hence farm B ended up with 720÷2 = 360
Since farm B started with 400 and ended up with 360, 40 animals were transferred from farm B to farm A.

Question for discussion: 40 is the net transfer from Farm B to Farm A. This is net of 30 chickens from A to B and 70 others from B to A. Will the answer be 70? or 40?

My most unreserved apology to Bryan. As pointed out by mister Yeo the question is asking for the number of animals that were moved from farm B to farm A, and not the net movement. My most heartfelt thank you to our ever vigilant mister Yeo!

(a)
800 × 30% + 400 × 60%
= 480 chickens
(b) after transfer,
1/4 of A + 3/4 of B = 480 chickens
3/4 of A + 9/4 of B = 1440
3/4 of A + 1/4 of B
= 800+400-480
= 720
9/4 of B - 1/4 of B
= 1440 - 720
8/4 of B = double amount of B
= 720
Hence farm B ended up with 720÷2 = 360
So farm B ended up with 360 × 3/4 = 270 chickens and 90 non-chickens.
Since farm B had originally 240 chickens and 160 non-chickens, that meant 30 chickens (270-240) were moved into farm B from farm A but 70 non-chickens were moved from farm B to farm A.
Answer: 70 animals (non chickens) were moved from farm B to farm A.
