Ask the child if he knows how much petrol is used in May and June (he should subtract). Then ask him to draw a model for May and June (3 units and 1 unit). That should lead you to the answer.

Initial ratio of numbers of apples to oranges
= 3 (150%) : 2 (100%)
There were 876 apples and 584 oranges bought on Monday.
Oranges left on Thursday
= 584 - 50
= 534
Final number of apples
= 534 × 5/3
= 890
890 - 876 = 14

After 3 hours, Raju was
69km + 3 × 15km
= 114 km from town B
which is 2/7 of the distance between towns A and B.
Raju's speed was
(114 × 5/2)km ÷ 3h
= 95 km/h

The average of Friday's and Wednesday's savings is equal to Thursday's.
Monday's and Tuesday's savings were $1.50 (Thursday is three days later) and $1.00 (Thursday is two days later) less than Thursday's saving respectively.

Thanks Xavier Sng & Izam Marwasi! We were only using the Friday bar for calculation, ignoring the rest of the days.

A even speedier way is to find the average of the five days, meaning Wednesday's savings, which is $25 ÷ 5 = $5.
Thursday's savings is thus $5 + $0.50 = $5.50
