Just wondering aloud, for part b, shouldn't it be interpreted as the ratio of the length of the figure to the width of the figure? If so, the answer is 3:5.

I hear you. The question can be less ambiguous.

Length need not be the longer side though.

Happy to help and I hope I have not confused anyone with what I raised. Please go with Caleb's and Mr Yeo's answer to part b. I was just playing the Devil's advocate.

Please help with this question. PSLE practice paper. Thanks!
The total area of the two shaded regions can be reduced to the total area of four full circles. So the answer is pi times square of ten times 4 = 1256.64 square metre. Please allow me a little time to illustrate this on paper because I do not have an application that can help me draw circles and shapes.

Thank you Izam and Joshua, both of you are too kind. Frankly, if this question appears in a primary school paper, the setter is expecting a lot from the students.

Now if this question appears in this year's PSLE paper, the ruling party better hold elections before PSLE or it will lose a cohort worth of votes lol

Very impressive Xavier. I will never figure that out. Will probably still stare at the figure for a good 1 hr and still nothing come up with NOTHING!

Yeo See Yeong I am very sure you can figure it out with a little practise. Just remember that the setter has to be able to figure it out too, so it is more doable than we think.
