The 41st woman had to bake 3×40 = 120 cookies to make up for the three fewer cookies the first 40 women baked.
120 × 41 = 4920

Thank you, Izam. It is just me putting reasoning before method. Once the approach to the problem solving is done, I can choose the method to present it. You are fully capable of that too. :)

Thank you for the question, Casey. Not to worry, if you look closely enough at what our contributors do, you will start picking up the scent.

I can get it immediately when I saw your short and sweet answer! Izam had further provided the working required!

Izam is a powerhouse. She is absolutely indefatigable!
My pleasure. The emphasis here is to understand the question and be able to draw the correct model. Once model is drawn correctly, the question is almost solved.

Or you can think of it this way:
Bag A + Bag C = 9.2 kg
Bag A + Bag B = 7.06 kg
Comparing above expressions, we can tell Bag A is common and by subtraction you can find out difference between bag C and B. Then you can find mass of bag B.

I manage to get 2.14.... after that... I was stuck! But no issue now! Tks a lot 😊

I can get 2.14. When we say 1.5 times the mass of bag b means that bag b is heavier .. sorry I don't get it...

Gek Poh, the question is saying that bag C is 1.5 times the mass of bag B. It means 2.14kg is 0.5 times of bag B. So, 2.14 x 2 = 4.28kg / 4280g

Bag C - Bag B=1/2 Bag B. (9.2-7.06)kg x 2=Bag B's weight

why 9 units?

Xavier Sng
Consider three stacks of notes that are equal in numbers. The first two stacks are made up of $2-notes while the last is made up of $5-notes. Since each $2-note is worth two $1's, and each $5-note is worth five $1's, that is how the 9 units come about.

Twice as much $2 than $5 therefore $9 is one set. $405 \ $9 , total there are 45 sets. 45 x $2 = $180
