SG chevron_right Primary 5 chevron_right Fractions

Hi, can someone please advise how to solve this question without using guess and check? Appreciate if you can show your working. Tks in adv.

Consider a group of ten students. 2/5 or 4 of them donated $30 each. 1/2 or 5 of them donated $40 each. The last of the 10 donates $50. The total donation of these 10 students = 4×$30 + 5×$40 + $50 = $370 $14800 ÷ $370 per group = 40 groups 40 × 10 = 400 students

It is incorrect to say that 1% = 0.75 kg because 1% = 1/100, which is a value of 0.01. 1% may represent 0.75 kg in this question but it is not equal in terms of value. We may use arrows or the word 'represents' instead of '=' in the working.
