As Michelle's speed is 5 times of Clara's, by the time they meet, the distance travelled by Michelle will also be 5 times of distance Clara travelled. Clara travelled 1 unit, Michelle would have travelled 5 units. Total 6 units (distance between airport and office). Mid point will be 6 units divided by 2, which is 3 units. The 12 km will represent 2 units (5 units-3 units). Therefore 1 unit = 6 km. Total distance = 6x6 km = 36 km.

What is the sum of all the even numbers up to 30?

2+4+...+30 = 2(1+2+...+15) = 2(16*7 + 8) = 2x120 = 240

To begin, we can list some of the numbers like this: 2+4+6+8+ ....+26+28+30. Next, we can look for a pattern -- what do we notice about the sum of the first and last number (2+30), second and second last (4+28), etc? They add up to 32. How many groups of 32 are there in the list? There are 7 groups of 32 and there is also 16 which is not paired with another number. Therefore the sum is 32*7+16 = 240.

Or will that b English problem? They consider odd number too (1+29=30) .... Hence total of 15 sets 30?

Answer sheets can sometimes have mistakes so we have to be sure about our methods and processes. In the answer sheet shown, it is clear that they are looking at adding only the even numbers, so it is a mistake in their solution. Even if we use a calculator to check (since it is only numbers up to 30), the answer will be 240.

Hi everyone! Apologies for being away for the past few days. It was a family weekend, spending quality time with my wife and kids. But, here I am, recording another video to help you in the understanding of how to use the model method to solve some Math questions. This is a common question given to Primary 5 students. It looks very confusing but it actually is very straight forward. The trick is to understand how to approach such a question and eventually, the same approach can be used for all other types of similar questions. Here's the link to the video. Hope it helps!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeNTDtonRgg
