Since the cost of present is to be shared equally among 4 girls, will have to make the number of units to be lowest common factor of 10 and 4, which is 20. 20 / 4 = 5 units / girl

Working backwards method: at the end, B was twice of A, A was twice of C. If C is 1 unit, A will be 2 units and B will be 4 units. But knowing that need to back calculate, we can multiply all by a common number, in this case 4. So A becomes 8 units, B 16 units and C 4 units.

Bag is the common item. The difference (in units) between watch n belt = 4units 4 units = 250 - 70 = 180

So 1 watch is 5 belts 1watch+1bag=$250 This can be written as 5belts+1bag=$250 First we must cost of one belt.We can find it by subtracting $250 and $70. $250-$70=$180 $180 is 4 belts. 1 belt = $180/4=$45 To find cost of one bag we must subtract $70 by $45. 1 bag is $70-$45=$25
