Based on the question, I understand it to be that 1 boy needs to earn $200 and not 4 boys =$200?

Zhong Shu Hao

yup. The Q states "for each to earn $200"

Zhong Shu Hao

Whats the ans given?

Rosalind Teo

No answer given. Holiday homework. Will know the answer when the teacher marks it when school re-opens. My mistake was that I subtracted the $40 in the beginning instead of adding to the $800 before divding that was why I was stumped. 😏 Thank you.

140 cars should be correct.

Out of curiosity, the qn is asking how much for each to earn $200 at the end of the 4 weeks? The amount spent is irrelevant, right?

Ann Loy

It depends on how one interprets 'earn $200' right? Is it net or gross?

Helen Soh

Earn will mean the returns on labour.. So will nd to take in the $10/week expense. So need to total up total earnings then add the expenses for 4 weeks. $200/boy x 4boys =800 $10/week x 4weeks=40 Total $840/$6per car= 140cars over 4 weeks

Why Answer B - 750/200 X 100%? Why use 200?

Replies 9

Zhong Shu Hao

Because the number o cakes sold in January is 200.

Zhong Shu Hao

Percentage increase of B from A = (B-A)/A x 100%

Zhong Shu Hao

In this case, A=200 and B = 950

So muchbt

Micheal Lim

So must take the less to divide

Zhong Shu Hao

not necessary the less. Must use the Original value to divide.

Zhong Shu Hao

So a better formula is Percentage change = (Final Value - Original Value) / (Original Value) x 100%

Micheal Lim

Now understand. Thanks a lot.
