In case 1, it says that certain quantity of apple + 10 is 2/5 of total. If P is 12u, then certain amt of apple + 10 = 8u.

3/5 and 3/4 common denominator is 20. From 3/5, 12/20 are pears. 8u (after buying 10apples) are apples.

8u - 10 for actual apples in the basket - from the 1st clue. It needed to add 10apples to become 8u. From 2nd clue, 12u + 30 is (3/4) ... Also means 1/4 (Apples) is 4u + 10.
