Total 13 notes .
13 notes minus 2 one dollar notes = 11 notes.
Used 11 notes and worked from there.
Guess and check method.

For guess and check pls note that the no of $5 notes will be an even no...bcoz of the total sum of $70... And $10 notes will be odd (less than 7 notes )..possibility of $10 notes are 1,3,5,

There are 13 pairs of horizontal parallel lines in the "plus" shaped figure. Hence, there will also be 13 pairs of vertical parallel lines. Then, add 1 as there is still the following pair of parallel line.
