Why $576 x 3/10?

6 years ago
Mavis Low

That's part of the money that is left, after Yusof spent 7/10 of his money. (He has 3/10units left + 3/10*576, since he initially had $576 more than Suhailah)

isn't "at first" $6698? or maybe i misunderstood the qn.

6 years ago
Mavis Low

Maybe the question is asking how much EACH of them had at first?

You need to make sure the number of units are the same for Nick and Osman after they spent the money. For Nick, he has 2/5 left.....means 2 units left whereas Osman has 5/7, 5 units left. You can't compare it when they are not the same number of units. So the best way is to have 10units left for both. Nick 10/25 and Osman 10/14.

Nick = 25u * $159

6 years ago
Vincent Ong

Nick $3975 and Osman $2723

Thanks so much!

Osman's can be calculated by 14u + $355 + (4* $35.50) where u = $159. Or $6698 - $3975
