P5 CA2 Paper 1 question. I'm wondering if there's any simpler method P5 kids can apply for this question. TIA.

To give 4 more sweets (5->9) to each student, she needs 44 (4 + 40) more sweets. Hence, number of students = 44 รท 4 = 11

Ivy's share + twice of Jenny's share + Karen's share = $168 + $240 = $408 Jenny's share = $408 - 336 = $ 72 Ivy's share to Karen`s share = 168 - 72 : 240 - 72 = 4 : 7

Since the same amount is added to both, it is easier to add to the left (front) of the models and then compare the bars.

Yes. Number of dustbins = Number of 8-meter gaps + 1

If it helps ... the first dustbin doesn't have an 8m gap before it while the rest do.

Don't just memorise or take other people's answers at face value ... gotta understand it rather than memorise it. If you understand, you would less likely face the problem of forgetting ... nothing to memorise = nothing to forget.

Yes.. I told my child just have to look at her own hand when doing this kind of qn if she can't remember to add or not to add. 1 hand has 5 fingers and 4 intervals (gap). Hence for this qn, 152m/8m= 19 gaps/intervals, thus 20 dustbins. From then on, she has no problem answering this kind of qn. Hope it helps !
