Does anyone know does it mean the moment student does Foundation Maths, he will go into 5 year Secondary course? Even if he does well?

I should say YES...will be posted to the Normal Stream--> bcoz the grading system is different for foundation and normal subjects.. Foundation subjects are graded by banding G1-G4...while the normal subjects are fromA*/A-E..

I understand there is a conversion of G1-G4 grades to the normal A-E grades but I am not sure of the formula..Can ask the school concerned..

The best he can go is to Normal Academic stream in secondary school. My student did well in foundation maths and managed to gain admission to the normal academic stream

Yes. After that he must do really well in normal acad to promote back to express stream.

I mean the other 3 are standard subjects. It's a pity if it is so cos only weakness is Maths but penalise and go to N (A)

I think a) and b) are correct. However, for c), he just has to get the correct unit of measurement.

but i thought i had to add another 30 to 160 as 160 is the boats normal speed without adding the speed of the current ?

Sorry, I didn't read the question carefully. Your son is correct. He just has to write the correct unit, mins. Speed against water current = 1950 / 15 = 130m/min Speed along water current = 130 + 30 + 30 = 190m/min Time to travel distance if moving with water current = 1950 / 190 = 10 5/19 mins
