Add assumption that the bottom shaded triangle is a equilateral triangle and you would be able to solve it.

How could we assume that? They did not mention However, the height of the triangle is 7cm. Is there any way we can calculate more mathematically than to assume the base of triangle is 12/3=4cm (model ans is that btw)

It has been mentioned before in this forum that the original question states that an equilateral triangle is formed in the space bordered by the triangles A and B, and the bottom edge of the paper. Other forum contributors have also made calculations (with trigonometry) and found that it is simply not possible for the triangle in question to be equilateral.

your ans is ryt but i didn't get your explanation

I assume this is grade 8 Mathematics. I got the various lengths through Pythagoras' Theorem and TOA CAH SOH. Since these are special angles, the ratios should be obtained easily. Finally, I applied the Trapezium Area Formula.

I don't understand how you get 8ut + 24

Yeo See Yeong

D*1.25 = 10u+30. Hence D = (10u+30)/1.25 = 8u + 24. Hope this help to explain.
