Sold 1/6 of the remainder and 250 left. So 5/6 left = 250 So remainder is 6/5 × 250 = 300 Sold 2/5 to get 300 left. So 3/5 left = 300 So started with 5/3×300 = 500

250 ÷ [(1 - 1/6) × (1 - 2/5)] = 500

Hi Raymond... Is this correct or its a fluke.. Ans is Same (250x6/5)x5/3= 500

Correct. Same idea as mine. Mine would simplify to 250 ÷ (5/6 × 3/5) = 250 × 6/5 × 5/3 = 500

Pls help answer is 1.05 but don't know how they get

Because both tanks had equal amounts of water (2.4 litres each) at the end, 'return' the 1.35 litres from B to A. So, 2.4 litres - 1.35 litres = 1.05 litres

Hi, Elaine. Refer to the image for an explanation. Properties of angles in a triangle are involved. :)

Angle y = angle CBD + 35 (ext. Angle = sum of 2 into. opposite angles) Angle x + angle CBD = 180 (angles on a straight line) Angle x + angle y = 180 + 35 =215
