No of children-> n
10 x n -35 = 13 x n -119
13n-119=10n-35
3n=84
n=28
28 children
No of bags->
28x10-35=245 or
28x13-119= 245
245 bags

a) (119 - 35) ÷ (13 - 10) = 28
b) 28 × 10 - 35 = 245

similar to this question but not exactly the same, as your question involves 2 scenarios of shortages: https://youtu.be/BZfCje2p5JY i will upload the video on 2 scenarios having shortages shortly.
Pls help with this P5 question. The students don't know cube root yet right?

You are right. Finding the length of a cube given the volume is taught in P6. I suspect that the school may have taught it? In any case, a P5 student knows how to compute the volume of a cube. So, once he figures out that the volume of the cubic container is 512. He can guess and check the length. If his number sense is good, he just need to try the even numbers 6 and 8 to realize the answer is 8.

I worked out the solution and yes, the cube volume is 512.
One alternative is to use number sense. Since children usually learn up to the 12 timetable, they can do like what I did in the image. :)
