1/3 are girls, so how many are boys?

Zhong Shu Hao

and in Math, the word "of" often means multiply

Zhong Shu Hao

so 1/3 of the people who can swim means that 1/3 x People who can swim

Karen Berlanga

If 1/3 of the swimmers are girls, then the other 2/3 of the swimmers are boys. Since the swimmers are 5/6 of the class, the boy swimmers are 2/3 of 5/6. Since "of" means to multiply in math, 2/3 x 5/6= 5/9. 5/9 of the class are boy swimmers.

Yeo Robert

130% = 3900 1% = 3900/130 = 30 30% = 900 45% of Alina and Brenda combined = 900 1% of Alina and Brenda combined = 900/45 = 20 100$ of Alina and Brenda combined = 2,000 Alina has thrice as much money as Brenda. So Alina has $1,500 and Brenda has $500.

Candy Chan From Robert Yeo explanation... $2000 is 100% of Alina and Brenda Money.. Alina->3u Brenda- >1u 4u-> $2000 3u-> $2000Γ·4 x 3= $1500 I find drawing models for this QN quite confusing and time consuming... Use Robert's method-> working from Mother's Money of 30% increased in savings.. My method is just showing how to work from the front(Alina&Brenda's Money)..just an alternative solution... Robert explanation is the best way to solve...-> try to move away from models drawing if possible...
