Hi! Ali would have a final difference of 198 +20 - 60 = 158 Since Ali has $158 more than his sister, AND he has twice as much as his sister, Multiply the difference by 2 to get Ali's amount in the end. 158 x 2 = 316 Because Ali receives $20 from his mother, subtract $20 from $316 to get his amount at first. $316 - $20 = $296 :)

atFirst Ali->2u-20 Sister-> 1u-60 (2u-20)=198+1u-60 2u-20=138+1u 1u= 158 Ali had 2u-20 at first. -> 2×158-20= 316-20=296(answer)

(a) 20 divides the length of the 3 ropes with no remainder. So, the cut pieces will be 20 cm each. (b) 4, 7 and 9 pieces can be cut for the 80 cm, 140 cm and 180 cm respectively.

you have to take the number of cars as variable, say x and write the number of vans and lorries as a function of x

if you solve it you get ncars=272, nlorries=22, nvans=144

Number of cars is 271. You got it right. Check with the teacher to find out why 271 is not correct.
