1.5u + 1u = 2.5u 2.5u = 45cm 3u = 45/2.5 x 3 = 54cm 54 x 45 = 2430cm2

using laymen terms: 1 long side plus 1 short side = 45 cm. So, 2 long plus 2 short equals 90 cm.Then see that 2 long sides equals 3 short sides. Then that means 5 short sides equals 90 making 1 short side 18cm thus the long side is 27cm. Last step to find area is the same as mike tan's last step.

Length of each shaded rectangle is 9, so breadth is 24/2-9=3. Area of each shaded rectangle is 3*9=27. Area of each big rectangle is 9*15=135. Area of unshaded is 5*135 - 8*27.
