SG Primary 3 Fractions

How to I solve or rather how do I explain? Thanks alot.

As shown in (a), the boxes on the arrows need to be filled with an operation (divide or multiply) and not just a number. To help your child understand equivalent fractions, you can take a strip of paper and fold into halves, quarters and then twelfths, shading 6/12. The equivalent fractions are more meaningful and visual that way. Once the equivalent fractions are written, the operations can be worked out by studying the numbers in the numerators and denominators. You can also draw models to illustrate.

For the taw programme, run it. Play around with it and it will help provide visual cues to explain why certain fractions are equal.
