(a)
Every month Anna saves $300 more than Brenda, so based on the difference of the saving, we know the number of months:
(1650-750)÷300=3
(b)
So Anna saved $1650÷3= $550 per month
Anna spends 7/9 per month so saves 2/9 pet month. So her month salary =
$550÷(2/9) = $2475

But why the difference divided by 300? that's the part where I don't get it :/

Given that Anna's salary is $300 more than Brenda's and they spend the same amount, 1st month Anna saves $300 more than Brenda, 2nd month saves $600 more and so on.. so based on the difference of the money saved divide by $300 (difference per month) will get the number of months.

Thanks Lee Kah Yee. May I know y 5(9n+54-129) = 6(7n-44) i/o
6(9n+54-129) = 5(7n-44) ?

Since the ratio of strawberry tart n blueberry tarts became 6:5 not 5:6

One of the regular contributors had explained the limitations of the model method, that when the question becomes complex with two different sets of variables that are difficult to reconcile, algebra undoubtedly provides the easier solution.
Nevertheless, I have tried my best to use the model method for this question.

Hello Jasmine. What Kah Yee did was cross multiplication.

Oh, it is certainly not serious enough to be called a rescue. :) This question is not easy for most students, I am afraid. PSLE should not be setting questions at this difficulty level.
You are most welcome. Okay, this is how it goes. Do you see triangle BDG and triangle ACG? The two of them have a combined base of BC, which means the total area of the two aforementioned triangles is half the rectangle ABCD.

That accounts for the 1/2 x 19 x 36. As for why twice of 38 sq cm is subtracted, can you now figure out why?

Most excellent. Please don't mention it, May I just inquire about your profile picture. Is it taken somewhere along the Adriatic shore?

It is one of the beautiful lakes in Italy; Lake Gargniano near to Milan.

Oh, I know that place. It is like England's Lake District. I was in Verona in '13 and had wanted to visit there but balked when told that it was freezing at that time (it was winter after all.) Please do tell, is it worth a visit (just from looking at that picture I know I am asking something really imbecilic)?

I was there is Autumn at a cool 18'C. Absolutely gorgeous place with tranquil lakes, fabulous Italian food, very fresh seafood and many towns to hop and see. Good getaway from city life. You MUST go. There is another lake near Milan too but can't recall the name.

You have gotten me bitten by the travel bug. I heard so many good things about the place from the local tour guide in Verona and she was telling me that the place is a must on anyone's bucket list until I asked her when she could drive me there lol. That was when the topic of temperature came in and the enthusiasm was properly doused. I will give heed to your advice, but Autumn is not a time that I can travel, at least not this year!

Might you be talking about Lake Como, the one that is near Milan?
