I would calculate the volume of the blue part LxBxH -> 58x10x29 -> 16820cm3. Volume of the red part is 51600-16820=4780cm3. Apologies, cm3 is cubic center meter. I cannot find superscript on iPhone.

Area of the 2 green triangles are the same. Area of 1 green triangle + area of 1 red triangle = 1/2 area of rectangle.

Hence, area of unshaded part= 1/2 Area of rectangle - 38 = 0.5 x 36 x 19 - 38 = 304

Xavier Sng

The area of 38 square cm must be subtracted twice from half the area of the rectangle because the green triangle and the red triangle overlap one another over the 38 square cm. Hence the unshaded area should be 0.5 × 36 × 19 - 2 × 38 = 266 square cm.

We use ratio. 3 x 39 : 4 x 26 = 9:8. (9+8)x7x2/1=238

Faizal's speed is represented by 5 parts while the difference in speeds is represented by 3 parts.

For such q..is there a technique to it? What must children pay attention to for speed related q?
