Hi Brandon, why is not (5 x$5.50) + ($7.40 x 2) = $42.30
6 years ago
Shaoyang Brandon
Yes, this is the correct step. Add $7.40 x 2 instead of $44.90.

She had $30.10 left and the question is asking on how much she spent, so we should not add in $30.10.

(b) seems contradicting. For all boys to have the same amount each, Velu must also give to Adrian.

I think u are right there is some error in the question.

The beginning of algebra in lower primary?
Personally I think it's better in the long term.
Model-drawing and other fanciful heuristics cease to exist from Sec sch onwards. Algebra and formulas would take over and lessen the number of dying brain cells trying to figure how to start drawing models and ratio-fumbling.
Streamline all the syllabuses with China's to give our children a more competitive edge.
