Why do we make the numerator the same?
As in
10/14 of female = 10/25 of male.
39 units -- 390
I unit -- 10
11 units -- 10 x 11 = 110

Instead of
25/35 of female = 14/35 of male
It's also 39 units in numerator?

This question is so easy to do, if algebra is used.
Yet another classic example that sometimes, logical sequencing makes more sense

@hwee koon, Denominator represents the total of each of female and male. Total female is not the same as total male. Instead, it is the specific portion of female that is the same as that of male. By the model above, it also shows the specific portion that is equal, which is actually the numerator. Thus we make numerator the same. Hope this explains.

After Rachel gives 10 coins to Rina, they each have 28 coins (56 coins divided by 2). Hence, before giving the coins to Rina, Rachel had 28+10=38 coins. Value of 38 50cent coins is $19.

You can go by another approach. If you add 3m to String C, you will realise that A and C are equal in length.
Soooo, this means that you will have 2 units of length for A and 2 units of length for C AND 1 unit of length for B.
Total units ---> 5
Total length (because 3m was added to string C) ---> 22m+3m = 25m
Find the value of 1 unit and you can find the length of C.

For this question, it involves ratio or using units and parts. The question is a P6 syllabus question, when a quantity is expressed as a fraction of another quantity. Something for us to take note. Cheers!
