As mentioned earlier, teach your child (who is in P3) to do systematic Guess and Check. It is much easier for your child to understand.

Encourage the child to list all the possible answers for each requirement. List all the multiples of 6 which are less than 20 (6, 12, 18), then the numbers divisible by 3 (3,6,9,12,15,18), then the factors of 12 (1,2,3,4,6,12). Now pick 2 multiples of 6, 4 multiples of 3 and 2 factors of 12. It does not say a number may or may not be repeated, so there may be more than one way to answer the question.

Write the question in a language you would understand • There are 8 numbers • 2 numbers are multiples of 6 • 4 numbers are divisible by 3 • The rest are factors of 12. Note that the conditions can overlap. So start with factors of 12: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 6 and 12 are multiples of 6 so that condition is taken care of. 3, 6 and 12 are divisible by 3. But because you are two numbers short, add one other number that is divisible by 3. Choose 9 or 15. Then choose one other number that is less than 20: 5 or 7 or 11 or 13 or 17 or 19 With that you have fulfilled the criteria given.

Look at the breadth carefully. 2 breadth is the same as one length of the rectangle. So change all the length that you see into breadth. So change the three lengths that you see into 6 breadth(s). Add this to the 4 breadths that you see. In total, there are 10 breadths. 10 breadth – 60 cm 1 breadth – 6 cm 1 length – 2 x 6 = 12 cm Area = 6 x 12 = 72 cm2

Y 10 breadth- 60 cm?

If you refer to the picture I posted, I indicated three arrows pointing to three lengths. These three lengths needs to be converted to common units, in this case, the breadth of the rectangle. Look at the sides of the original figure. 1 Length is the same as 2 breadth of the rectangle. So 3 lengths is 6 breadths.
