Use reasoning then. Replace a & b with words can? ☺ Length of big square + breadth of small rectangle is 20cm So, it means that 2 Lengths of big square + 2 breadths of small rectangle is 40cm But as seen from the diagram, length of small square + 2 lengths of big square = 40cm Hence, length of small square is twice breadth of small rectangle. 4 breadths of small rectangle is 20cm. 2 breadths is 10cm. Hence, area = 10 Γ— 10 = 100cm^2

Let the breadth of a rectangle be x. Then by symmetry the side length of the shaded square is 2x. 4x=20 x=5 Therefore the area of the shaded square is 100cm^2

A:C 1:4 U need to multiply this ratio by 4. Hence u will get A:C 4:16 Make the units of C same as B+G hence you'll get B:G 3:5 (x 2) 6:10 Therefore, M:B is 1:6 (ans) ------------- 10-6=4 4u ---> 132 1u ---> 132/4 = 33 Since W:G is 3:6 then children left will be B+G--->6+6=12u 12u---> 33x12=396 (ans)
