B = 4. Take 2855 + 2_86 and you can slowly work out the value of B.

4. The '1' in the ones place cannot allow 6to be deducted so u must borrow 10 from the tens place. 8+5 in the tens place =13 which ends with 3 which means b must be 3+1 (need to add 1 cos this 1 is borrowed by ones place in order to be subtracted by 6)

Just reverse the subtraction. No analysis needed.

Starting from left, 2 + 2 = 4, so a thousand must have been borrowed to the right.
13 - 8 = 5. However, looking to the next column on the right, a hundred must have been borrowed to minus 8. So, B = 4 in the hundreds column.
Testing this hypothesis by putting B = 4 in the tens column, 14 - 8 = 6.
Our hypothesis is confirmed when we look at the ones column requiring a loan of a ten, thus making the tens total a 5.
Also, in the ones column, 11 - 6 = 5.
