If there were 1200 yellow ribbons at first, then there were 800 orange ribbons at first.
1200+800=2000>1464 (contradiction).
I think this question has an error somewhere.

I think there’s an error somewhere in this question. If there are 1200 yellow ribbons at first, then there are 1200*(2/3)=800 orange ribbons at first. 1200+800=2000 is already more than 1464 that is available for sale, when the number of purple ribbons is not yet included. This is impossible!
