Thanks Adrain. It looks like a simple qns but not that straight forward to solve... Took me a while to understand the 6/15 for B.

Me too. I just wonder how we can show our kids how to come up with the model in the first place? The 3u/7u part would be easier but certainly not the 6p/9p part and subsequent substituting u with p.

Pls help p3 question. The difference between two numbers is 43. The bigger number is twice the smaller number. What is the sum of the two number? (125)

How lucky parents are now a days with this plat form. When my elder kids were in Pri school, we gave them Maths paper every week but when we are stuck with some questions, there is no one to turn to. In fact, by letting them try out different kind of questions, it does help in their exam result and I would certainly encourage parents to do so.

You raised an interesting point, Francis. Is it better to have "no one to turn to" for difficult Math problems so that the child can think harder than if there's answers readily available with the parents or on FB? Because sometimes, there's just no straight forward/ "model" answers to many problems in life.

Hi, you can use the app called EduSnap as well (available for Ios and Android) to get help with the questions. ;)

Students should 'struggle' a bit in order to learn. On the other hand, if they are really 'stuck', timely help is good. If parents understand the problem and the solution, then as parents, we should not just give the solution but to guide our child in thinking. So this platform is to ease parents' anxiety by being able to get some help with the solutions, but from here on, parents will have to think how to guide your child and not to just give the solutions. So for sure, it is not advisable to direct students to site where they get solutions easily without a platform to clarify and discuss.

Be discerning when giving questions to your children. Agree that exposure is good. Over-exposure will not give you a clear pic. I've mentioned before that a difficult/challenging question is not necessarily a good question. If your child is challenged by these questions, by all means, let them challenge themselves and enjoy it. If you and your child are 'stressed' by some of these questions, seek some advice here, if they are not questions that assess underlying and critical math concepts, then don't kill yourself. Better for your child to focus on building good foundations than to be bogged down by extremely challenging questions.

Personally I feel that if the questions are too hard and the child cant solve any of them, they will lose confidence and be afraid to 'try'. The key thing is to develop their confidence and teach them how to try in the right direction.

AisinGioro, if the child has difficulty with all the questions, my humble opinion, the child is clearly not ready for such problems. Will have to go back to the fundamentals again, one step back.

One step at a time. I fully agreed with you guys that we should not let our children lost confidence or it will become a bigger problem.

yup Elaine, sometimes a child will develop fear for maths and lose the courage to even try, thus giving up psychologically.

The solutions to some of the tough questions require a bit of reading and digesting as well. If students just copy answers down without studying the solutions carefully, they will not be able to do a similar question given to them.

Pri 3 qn. I know the answer but I cannot do the working without algebra. TyJohn and Peter have the same number of cards initially. After John gave Peter 42 cards, Peter has 3 times the number of cards that John has. How many cards does Peter has initially? Thank you

84, just from mental calculation. Haha. Logic is, he must have give half of his cards, to make the other guy have 3 times the amount.
