SG chevron_right Primary 6 chevron_right Number and Algebra

Today I will share how to solve a very common question given to students at P4. Having said that, it can also come up in a P6 paper as a 2 or 3 mark question. The method involves the use of stacking up the models. Do watch the video and let me know if my explanation is clear enough. Hope it helps!

Dont think too complicated. Usually such qns involves simple addition, subtraction or both. Work on some magic square and u can get the idea

double 11 and subtract by the number on top or left you will get the third number in the row so 11*2-3=19 just like 11*2-1=21 / 11*2 - 8 = 14 / 11*2-5 = 17

14 ... identify pattern ... not sure why the question says to "add up the numbers"

Richard Ng

14. The word "adding" in the question means "insert". Pattern is easy, 7x(4÷2)=21. Means top row multiplied by middle row divided by 2 equals bottom row. Left to right is the same concept

Jay Tea

Haha ... thanks ... question should simply say "insert" or "fill in the blank" :)

Ooy Yoan

Agree with richard. the answer should be 14. top across 7x(4 divide by 2)=14. right most lane downward 14x(6 divide by 2)=42.
