After some ribbons used, Purple left 3units and Red left 6units.....also means before giving purple has 9units, Red has 8units. 17u = 510.........

Wahidah, it's common to draw purple 1u n red 2u based on the question. But as the question needs to "put" back 25% for Red, I can't work with 2u nor 4u. I will need to use 6u so that I could "put" back the 25% with 2u for the red. Basically from the initial purple 1u and red 2u, I basically drew 2 more lines inside each unit. If I have confused you, let me know and I will draw it out to explain. Cheers.

You might want to draw 4u and shade 1u ... Explaining that when 25% (1/4) of something is used, you will be left with 3u.
You could draw a line inside each of the unit, and make a total of 8units, with 2units shaded. It is still the "same" percentage.
As 25% of Red ribbons were used in the question, it will be easier to make red to have 6units left so that you know 2units were used.
If red is 6units, purple will have to be 3units based on the question.
Hope above helps.
