There are several ways of doing the question 1 is by model but as I am not sure how to draw boxes in facebook I will resort to a ratio style

Situation 1 tank a : tank b 3 : 5 minus 5L Sitation 2 4 : 6 (3x2) tank b.only half filled Note tank completely filled each time thus shoukd have tge same units Thus ratio becomes Tank a : tank b 12 : 20 Mumus 5 litres iverflowed 12 : 18 Thus 2 u = 5 1u = 2.5 18u = 45

(35 - 11) ÷ (6 - 4) × 6 + 11 = 83 or (35 - 11) ÷ (6 - 4) × 4 + 35 = 83
