If you count 3 cubes from each side, for the length, breadth and height, it's 3 x 3 x 3, which gives you a total of 27 cubes.

Shouldn't it be the 4 middle boxes at the bottom and 2 middle boxes on the third tier cos it says face 3 other boxes. Corner boxes only face 2 other boxes.
