Use Guess and Check, no need for model drawing.
Guess No. 1
40x 3 = 120
Guess No. 2
(35 x 3) + (5 x 4) = 105 + 20 = 125
Guess No.3
(30x3) + (10x4) = 90 + 40 = 130
Answer: 30 students

Which level is this Q?
If it's P3, Guess & Check method will b easier for e kid to understand.
Assumption method is usually used when they have to find a more complicated answer like no of coins or animals in a farm.

That depends on which level is the kid. Usually at P3 the kids r expected to use Guess & Check method. At P4 they will b taught Assumption method. But of course, it's up to the kids which method they prefer to use as long as the method is mathematically sound.

40x3=120
130 books - 120 = 10
Only 10 pupils managed to borrow 4 books
So, the the remaining 30 pupils borrow 3 books
