The teacher is also right, coz after the 42nd bookmark was sold, the bicycle shop closed liao... so bo pian... go early next morning lor... 😭 Or after making the 42 bookmarks by Day 3, they only managed to sell on Day 4... 😭 Just kidding lah... haha... the answer is Day 3, minus all the drama... ☺

"By which day"....wah...I can also say it is Day 4, Day 5 etc....it doesn't imply the earliest date!

If I continue to argue with the teacher will my daughter tio mak

Raymond Ng

Confirmed. Double confirmed. So pls don't. Is this crucial? As in exam? If not, let it be lah...

Please ask the teacher why it is Day 4. Give your reason. If you don't ask, you won't be able to get clarity. You ask, you get clarity.

I remembered came across similar question before. The question ask 'by which day will he have enough money' not how many day will he have to make bookmarks. Guess this all come to understand the meaning of the sentence

This is another qn where the teacher said ans is 8 while we think is 18

3 × 2 × 3 = 18

Now... I may need you to pm me which school this is... 😭

I think you can ask your child to clarify with the teacher again. That will help you gain clarity.

Chances are the teacher may be right. The question ask about topping combinations. Toy is not a topping, right?

Hoe Wah Noon

Will do Ty

The teacher has replied that the topping qn ans is 18 not 8.

28 ducks x 2 legs each = 56 72 - 56 = 16 (goats' legs) 16 ÷ 4 = 4 goats

Use assumption method: Assuming all 28 are goats: 28 x 4 legs = 112 legs 112 - 72 = 40 4 - 2 = 2 (difference in no of legs between goats and ducks) 40 / 2 = 20 (number of ducks) 28 - 20 = 8 (number of goats)

CK Tan

So which is the prefer answer?

Huixian Lu

8 goats x 4 legs = 32 legs 20 ducks x 2 legs = 40 legs 32 + 40 = 72 legs (Can always check back with the answer you get)

72 : 2 = 36 36 - 28 = 8 Goats= 8 Ducks = 28-8 = 20

When doing this type of question, start with animal with lesser leg, in this case duck. Since we know out of the two types minimum number of leg is two then 28x2 = 56 Subscribing by 72, 72-56 = 16 legs and further divided by 2 legs (to get 4 legs) left means 8 animal confirm has 4 legs is goat

The algebra way: The difference in lollipops = 12 – 10 = 2 The total shortage / extra = 36 + 40 = 76 2u = 76 1u = 38 There are 38 students in the class. OR The listing way: (if you list all the way to 38 students, you will get the answer)

Yeo Hock Lay

36+40=76 12-10=2 76 divide by 2 =38 38x10=380 380+36=416 a) There are 38 children at the party. b)Peter has 416 lollipops.

Need help. P4 qns. Ali has 4 times as much money as Gopal. Maggie has $336 less than Ali. The 3 children have total of $780. How much does the boys have? Why only method A is correct and not method B?Ali: 4uGopal: 1uMaggie: unknown unit which is lesser than Ali by 336. A: 780+336=1116=9units. 1unit=124. Boys=5×124=620. Girl=160B: 336/4u=84 per u of ali is more than maggie 1u. 780-(84×5u)=360=6u. 1u=60. Boys=720. Girl 60.

Replies 4

Stacey Tan

336/4u=84 780-(84×5u)=360 9u = 360 (<====== Your error here) 1u = 40 Ali = (4 x 40) + 336 = 496 Gopal = 40 + 84 = 124 Maggie = 4 x 40 = 160

Ali -- 4 units Gopal -- 1 unit Maggie -- 4 units too (Inclusive of $336) 9 units = 780 + 336 = 1116
