difference in their age doesnt change. it remains as 24 years. 4 units ＝ 24 1 unit ＝6 14 - 6 ＝ 8.

The difference in age now is 38-14=24 which is the same as the difference in age a few years ago, 4u = 24. So Monica's age was 6 when her aunt was 5 times her age. Therefore 14-6=8 years ago.
