A 'tip' to help your child start: mark the parallel lines with arrows so that it is obvious which angles are equal, etc. It is also better to use pencil to mark on diagrams so that if they get on the wrong track or do the wrong thing, it is easy to erase without the diagram becoming confusing to look at.

I totally agree with Vei Li Soo's advice. I would also suggest that your child refrains from finding the angles which are not required as they cluster the diagram. Finding those angles do not gain extra points and they take up time. Having all the angles determined do not in general help the student solve the question better. Keep the diagram simple and only mark down the necessary information. Such a practice will benefit your child in secondary school when such questions are encountered.
