How did you get it?

Kevin Cordoviz

1+6 = 7 7x3 = 21 21 -3 = 18 18+ 9 = 27

I think it has something to do with linking the numbers (triangularly shaped chain) but using operations.

Kevin Cordoviz

Or it can be . 6 times 3 leads to 18. 7 times 3 leads to 21. (missing number) then 9 x3 leads to 27 on the other side.

Each smaller number x 3 will give the number on the opp end

Kevin Cordoviz

^ yes. I was thinking of something similar too. What an elegant solution. :)

When you take the numbers on the opposite sites, you just multiply the smaller number by 3 and get as the result the bigger number

Wei Li has 58 $2 notes and $5 notes altogether. The total value of all the money is $164. How many $5 notes does Wei Li have? – how to explain step 3?step 1: 58 x $2 = $116step 2: 164 - 116 = 48step 3: 5-2 = 3step 4: 48 / 3 = 16 ($5 notes)

Step 3 addresses the balance of 3 dollars amounting the the remaining money. Note that 2 dollars make up 5 dollars too

Work backwards. 49 +3 = 52 (this is 2/3 odd the remaining). From here, we can work out the amount for the remaining. Keep working backwards and you'll get to it.
