Key computation: Take the difference in the cost of the two stamps. What remains the same: Total number of stamps. What to change: the number of 55 cent stamps and 80 cent stamps. First try: 9 x 80 cents - 9 x 55 cents = $2.25 (not close enough to $7.65) Second try: 12 x 80 cents - 6 x 55 cents = $6.30 Third try: 13 x 80 cents - 5 x 55 cents = $6.75 Bingo! Sharon bought 13 80 cents stamps. :)

She gave 12/15 of the remainder, and the remainder was 5/6 of the caketo her classmates. 12/15=4/5, 4/5 ×5/6 =4/6 =2/3

Rectangle A is (B) 1 by (L) 1x3=3 which is LXB=3 unit2 Rectangle B is (B)3 by (L) 3x3=9 which is LXB=27 unit2 Total area 480m2/(27+3)units=16m2 Rectangle A area 16x3=48m2 Rectangle B area 480-48=432m2
